Alisha's World was born out of the founder's desire to provide a source of entertainment to his children that they can relate to. Characters that were just like them, facing the same challenges they faced, growing up multi-cultural.

Sanjiv Sinha, founder of Alisha's World and father of two girls was frustrated by the lack of characters in the popular media that his kids could relate to. The fact was that his kids, and other kids growing up multicultural were growing up American but also had a very strong cultural influence at home - whether that heritage was Hispanic, Chinese, Filipino, Pakistani or Indian, as in his children's case. There was a complete lack of characters that these kids could relate to that would help them work through issues that come with growing up 'different' than the norm in a way that was not preachy but accessible. A way that highlighted the positives and boosted their confidence in themselves and their heritage. A way that kids would actively reach out to and embrace.

Thus was born Alisha's World with help from Jiyo Media.

Alisha's World is filled with believable multi-cultural characters facing real life situations. The stories revolve around Alisha, an Indian American 3rd grader and her friends. The stories are interesting, believable and written to boost confidence in one's multi-cultural identity.

While the stories are written from the perspective of an Indian American girl, these stories talk about issues that will resonate with any kid that is growing up in a diverse multi-cultural environment.

Yes, it is cool to be different. We want our kids to believe in that too.
